Digital Scrapbooking

The Jellybean craft forum that I belong to has a number of girls that have taken up digital scrapbooking, and I said to Brian that this is what I need to learn as I don't always have time to do traditional paper scrapbooking. Brian purchased a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 a great editing programe what it is able to do is amazing. I also purchased a complete class of digital scrapping all done online from a lady in Melbourne and she uses the above program, with the first 3 classes I have managed to do 3 digital pages and have another almost finished. Below is a small brief on what digital scrapbooking is. Digital scrapbooking is the process of utilising the latest in electronic technology to create scrapbook pages. Instead of using a traditional hard copy scrapbook and cutting out elements to paste into the book, digital scrapbooks that are loaded with different colours, fonts, banners & images such as photos and drawings. Digital scrap booking makes it possible to share the scrapbook quickly and easily with one or more people, while still retaining control of the original copy. Digital scrapbooking , also referred to as digi scrapping or computer scrapbooking, is a fairly new form of scrapbooking which involves the use of computer and graphics software to create visual layouts for the purpose of preserving memories. Originally scrapbooking was done using photos & paper, with hand written journal notes & various small embellishment objects, ribbons, stickers and so on. Digital scrapbooking involves the use of digital photos, graphic textures & various photo - objects as embellishment, but the ultimate purpose of preserving memories in the form of a creative keepsake remains. Some digital scrapbookers may combine digital elements into traditional page layouts - printing & cutting out digital photos, paper, clip art & journal notes and pasting them together in a tangible layout. Others prefer to work completely with digital content, creating the layout entirely on the computer. Digital scrapbook layouts cane be printed and placed in an album, or they may be left as digital files which can be shared electronically via email, the web or on a disc. Most digital scrapbookers work with a photo editing program such as Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Essentially you can use any software that allows you to work with layered objects, and supports the PNG file format. PNG files are preferred for digital scrap booking because they allow the use of transparency in a high quality, true color format.
