Rory's first school photo.

1st Day Of School

Rory's first day of school was a great highlight for Brian and I as we had gone over for his 5th birthday and being there to actually take part in the excitement of getting ready for school in the morning and seeing actually heading into school was very emotional.

Photo A Day - January

This year there are a few of us who have taken on the challange of taking a Photo A Day. I decided I am going to do this and also thought it would be great to add each photo into a template for the month. At the end of the year I hope to have a nice collection of pages with the photos all in place as per day. I have a template that suits this project just perfect. This is my January page. I add the photos through the month so they are almost virtually added by the end of the month.

Still Learning

These first two pages were tutorials from my digi course: The use of Gradients, making a title from a photo so the photo shows on the title - (love this idea) that fountain is the "Peacock Fountain" in Christchurch it is a very pretty fountain, I also learnt how to make my own buttons and added a sheen - pretty cool eh.

This one below was playing with layers and Opacity - there is 26layers in this one, love the effect it gives to a page.

Christmas Day

By this stage we were at our Christmas/New Year house sit at Capalaba. We had decided to go out for Christmas Day lunch at the local sports club - walking distance, no dishes to do, we could have a drink and not have to worry about driving home again. Even had our photo taken. Had a wonderful buffet lunch everything you could imagine. The owners of this property we having Christmas/New Year with their family in the UK so we sent some photos of their loved pooch to them for Christmas I did a page and sent to them which they loved.

Below photo was taken at our Christmas lunch at the Capalaba Sports Club

Bonus catch up with Ann and Noriel

Once again while at Holland Park I was lucky enough to get a bonus visit from Noriel who had just finished a cruise and was staying in Brisbane - approx 15mins from us so on their way north to the Sunshine Coast both Lou and Noriel popped over for a chat and morning tea. I contacted Ann Lavin another amazing lady and very good friend to advise Noriel was coming and would she and Mick like to come over also to catch up. We had a fabulous couple of hours - thank you both for making the effort it was amazing.

Met with the lovely Kym

While at one of our house sits at Holland Park (just around the corner from Laraine) I was kindly taken to meet with the gorgeous Kym for her little craft groups end of year Christmas lunch. Laraine and her hubby kindly collected me and brought me home again. It was just wonderful to see Kym and we even got to do a hands on lumpy bumpy Christmas scrappy page. We had a nice lunch and natter before cleaning up and headed home . I actually used the Christmas photo of Brian and I on the page that was created at Kyms. A page for my album.

Ok so here we go 2016

Friday February 26th:

I've been real slack no excuse - except I just don't seem to have enough time to do what I want to do. However one big achievement is that I have completed my Digital Scrapbooking Course all tutorials complete - what a brilliant course it was and I learnt so much and can now do things that I never imagined when I first started out - actually I surprised myself. We are still house sitting, have had some beautiful house sits, met some amazing people, stayed in some gorgeous homes and met some beautiful animals. We have decided to do it for another year and when we rejoin in April it will take us through to next April when we won't renew it time to settle down for these Nomads, actually I cann't wait - I see all our belongings in our storage shed and it will be like Christmas when we unpack it all again. No sure where we will settle -  however it will have to be within an hour of the Selangor Private Hospital Nambour, Brian's surgeon and our Dr's. The reason being with Brian's health and his 3mthly admissions to hospital for surgery and or Chemo treatments we have to be close by. Therefore we will be somewhere between and hours drive from the Sunshine Coast to the north and south. Anyway enough of that lets get on with updating this blog.

A Bit of a Laugh

While at Redland Bay recently we were in the shopping mall and Santa was sitting there with no visitors and he was looking very bored, so I went up and asked for a photo with him, he was thrilled said business was slow and many of the children were too young, scared and tired and in general they were all crying and or screaming. He said he was happy for me to sit on his knee however I said on no I will just crouch, he was happy to have someone to chat to for 5mins. The photo of him waving he is waving to Rory over in Christchurch and he said as these photo's were being sent to Rory they would not charge me for the photos.

Something a Bit Different

Our friends have just recently been to Europe arriving home about 5days before the dreadful bombing in Paris where they had just been before heading back home, counting their blessings every day. While in the UK they made a visit out to the castle where parts YES only parts of the programme for Downton Abby were filmed. It is not all filmed in the castle at all, Mrs Patmore's kitchen is not on site and there is NO village nearby when they say they are and you see them in the town village it is not anywhere near Downton. Also according to our friends the house is very scruffy and not as it appears on TV.  Just thought I would share these photos as I loved the show.

Christchurch Visit 2014

Yasmine, Adam and Rory had to have their beloved Harley Dog put to sleep just after our trip in 2014, I did this page for them as it was his last Christmas - he has now safely crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can
run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm
and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and
vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong
again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times
gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they
each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager
body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over
the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally
meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the
beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your
pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Pirate Ahoy

November 29th - 2015

I have been making a real effort to continue with pages for Rory's Album. I even take my computer to  the hospital when Brian is in either for surgery or day treatments. It is a long day when you have nothing to do and as I only need power no internet it gives me plenty of time to play.
Here are some of the latest pages I have done - enjoy.
I had this photo of Rory dressed as a pirate and have always wanted to do a page, I found a Quick Page of a Pirate page but didn't want to do a QP - I wanted to do my own and based mine on this one, I am really happy with the way it turned out. The below photo is the QP from Pickleberry Pop -  Indigo Designs.

Below my page is how I went about creating the Pirate page, again using some of the new ideas and techniques I have learnt from my digi tutorials.

 This is my Pirate Page

The Wine Barrels, PalmTrees, Boat and Flag were images that I erased the backgrounds and cleaned up the edges before turning them into PNGs.

The background paper with the Pirate Skulls on I used underneath the Sunflower paper that I reduced the opacity so the skulls paper showed through.

This page is my take on a Pickleberry Pop – Quick Page, by Indigo Designs.
